HIKING

What: Hike in area given on schedule below
When: Thur. or designated Fri. 7:30 a.m. ( 8 a.m. in Dec. and Jan.) sharp

Information: Please bring lunch and at least a quart of WATER Wear hiking shoes.

A hat and sunscreen is recommended.  A knapsack or a hiker’s fanny pack is the best ways to carry your belongings.

Those in good physical condition can generally accomplish these hikes.  In this connection, please remember that these hikes are up and down mountain trails andtrail not on level ground.  If you should fall ill or have an accident, the group will do all they can to assist you.  But, if a rescue team has to be called, it could be very expensive for you.

We take turns driving.  You are welcome to join the group and share the beauty of the trails, healthy exercise and good fellowship.

January 7     MURRAY PEAK
Difficult 7 1/2 miles.  Elevation gain 1900 feet. Views of around Palm Springs, Cathedral City and Palm Canyon.  Burt Pickering Hike Leader

January 14     JOSHUA TREE -- LOST PALMS OASIS TRAIL
Moderate, 5 miles. Elevation gain 400 feet. Fee to enter. Visit Lost Palms Oasis. Jim Riederer Hike Leader

January 21    PAINTED CANYON/KADDER CANYON LOOP
Moderate, 5 miles. elevation gain 500 feet. Hike up and down ladders, through slot canyons. Jim Riederer Hike Leader

January 28    LYKKEN TRAIL (SOUTH)
Moderate, 6 1/ miles. Elevation gain 1000 feet. A good climb. Great view of Palm Springs and Tahquitz Canyon. Burt Pickering Hike Leader

Mar 4   PACIFIC CREST TRAIL (North off Hwy 74)
Moderate, 4 1/2 miles. Elevation gains 800 feet. Fee to park.  Hike Pacific Crest Trail North of Hwy 74.  Jim Hike Leader

Mar 11     JO POND TRAIL TO CEDAR SPRINGS
Moderate to difficult, 7 miles. Elevation gain 1700 feet.  Hike to Cedar Springs for lunch among incense cedar and black oak.  Van Hike Leader
