Jack McClung has been our POP CORN MAN, our
DOUGHNUT MAN, for chapel service, the MAIN GUY to keep the square dance club
going at RCB, the GREETER, and RCB WELCOMING PERSON, and so much more at RCB.
There has been some confusion on even the
information that they were given. The Doctor now says that Jacks paralysis is
not due to a stroke, although he may have well had one. He said that they
have determined that he had bleeding into the spinal column, which turned into
clots, causing pressure in the spinal column, which caused the paralysis. They
have said that Jack is a quadriplegic. The Doctor also said that there was a 1
to 5% chance that this would recover. (not good) Today they did a tracheotomy
in order to remove the breathing tube out of Jack's mouth. (He is on a
ventilator) The reason for this is so that they can hook the ventilator to the
tracheotomy, in hopes that Jack might be able to talk or respond in some
fashion, and also to see if he might be able to breath on his own. This is
very difficult to do with the thing in your mouth. They also put a feeding
tube into h is stomach. So, as you can see, the situation does not look very
good. Jeanne seems to be doing quite well, and has both her kids with her.
Times ahead could become quite difficult, and your prayers are appreciated and
needed. Will keep you all posted the best I can.
On Thursday, May 15, Jack McClung's family made
the decision to remove life support from him. This, as I understand, is in
accord with his living trust, and his desires made known through his living
trust. This is always a tough time. Yesterday evening, (Saturday, May 17)
Jack passed away. Your prayers are still needed for Jeanne, and her
family as they deal with this.
